10 Ways to Support Local Businesses in Wyre
COVID-19 (Coronavirus)
Many shops and businesses are now open albeit some businesses and attractions are still temporarily closed, and some events cancelled. We strongly recommend double checking businesses' own websites and social media to confirm details before visiting. You can purchase items to 'take home' and many restaurants are offering take out, and gift vouchers for use at another time. Many businesses will also deliver free of charge if you are unable to get out.
Support Wyre's local businesses during this time. Here are 10 ways to do so:
1. Consider purchasing online in the coming days or weeks from a local business, whether its for yourself or for family and friends
2. Many local businesses/restaurants have the option to purchase gift cards directly on their website. Tickets for future use can be purchased now in order to help keep small businesses running.
3. Purchase essential supplies such as milk, bread, cheese, yogurt and eggs from your local farmer, they will have enough supplies to meet demand even if your supermarket does not.
4. All small businesses will try to accommodate your needs at this time. Ring the business up, explain what you need, they may well have something suitable in stock already or be able to make it for you, and will more than likely be able to deliver locally too.
5. Don't forget your high street. Many independant shops/ small bars and small businesses rely on your business . Please shop local for your essentials.
6. Don't forget your local markets, many are still open and where the supermarket shelves may be empty your local market still has lots of essentials and fresh produce on sale.
7. Keep in touch with businesses, especially if you are a 'regular' on social media, perhaps show some support on their news feed or by private message. They will appreciate the contact at this difficult time.
8. Use Credit or Debit Cards - when you go shopping use a credit or debit card instead of cash. Paper money and coins pass through so many hands, limiting the amount of cash you use can help limit the spread of any germs.
9. Leave positive reviews, 'like' and 'share' posts on social media and recommend local businesses to friends and family.
10. Please be kind - businesses are working at a dramatically reduced capacity. You may experience longer waits or encounter some out of stock items. Please be patient, businesses are doing their best to meet your needs whilst trying to stay open and serve the local community
