With bustling markets, unique theatre venues, vast stretches of sand and acres of countryside, the borough of Wyre has a bit of everything to offer.
If you want a place where you can be close to the environment and stretches of sand, then there is nowhere more perfect then Rossall Point observation tower. With two observation decks for birdwatching and taking in the views across Morecambe Bay, the tower provides a sense of relaxation and peace for those wishing to slow down.
Fancy a bit of history? Our beautifully restored Grade II* listed tower mill is a blast to the past. Standing at over 70 feet, Marsh Mill is one of the tallest mills in Europe, and the best preserved windmill in the north west of England with much of the original machinery still intact. The mill is over 200 years old and was removed from Historic England's Heritage at Risk register in October 2015 following £320,000 investment by Wyre Council. Extensive repairs have been carried out to the cap (roof), fantail and reefing stage (balcony), ventilation has been improved and a new set of sails installed.
Wyre is blessed with many superb markets that you can enjoy up and down the borough. With the traditional market at Fleetwood, the hustle and bustle of the Monday market in Poulton, and the historic market of Garstang you’re bound to find something to your liking.
Or if you just want a breath of fresh air then there are a variety of guided walks and cycling trails for the whole family to enjoy.
