Come and explore Wyre's picturesque coastline with sand and shale beaches located approximately 4 miles north of Blackpool at traditional seaside resort of Cleveleys. The beach front here is a vast expanse of sea and sand, backed by an award winning promenade, Jubilee Gardens playground, cinema and eateries.
Enjoy traditional activities such as building sandcastles, flying kites and walking or cycling and you can also take in The Mythic Coastline art sculptures which stretch the length of Cleveleys promenade whilst discovering the coastline's abundant wildlife.
Further on your journey along the promenade you pass Rossall and Rossall Tower with its glorious views of Morecambe Bay and the Irish Sea onto Fleetwood, a charming Victorian seaside town in Lancashire with a rich social history and fishing industry heritage.
The beach in Fleetwood is called Marine Beach and you will find a fine stretch of sand here as well as pretty sand dunes.
The seafront area here has recently been renovated and has views across to Morecambe Bay where the low tide reveals a truly vast expanse of sand.
There's also a great deal of coastal wildlife to look out for including Cormorants, Curlews, Lapwings and Oystercatchers. The area includes sandflats and saltmarshes that attract thousands of birds. As such it is considered the second most important estuary in the UK.
Knott End-on-sea is a village in situated on the southern side of Morecambe Bay across the Wyre Estuary to Fleetwood. Although there is no through road (to get there one has to pass through neighbouring Preesall the village has as a variety of shops and cafes, Knott End has its own pub (the Bourne Arms) a popular cafe on the coastline, called Knott End Cafe, county library and golf club. Buses run regularly from Knott End there is also a seasonal three-minute ferry crossing to Fleetwood.
