Museum talk - Barrie Woods presents 'Garstang, Pilling and Knott End railway'

Steam and transport enthusiast Barrie Woods presents an illustrated talk.
For over 100 years, freight and passenger services operated on the rural railway route between Garstang and the mouth of the Wyre. The strangely nicknamed ‘Pilling Pig’ prompted a host of folk tales. The last freight train left Knott End in 1950. Financial problems occurred throughout much of its fascinating operating history. Boom periods linked to the rock salt workings were highlights.
