The Kracken Fleetwood

The Kracken - free beach craft fun

Fleetwood Museum Trust and Healthier Fleetwood invite everyone to take part in their annual free beach craft event, where this year’s theme is The Kraken.

Inspired by previous creations such as pirate ships, mermaids and a tribute to the RNLI, this mythical sea creature will be brought to life using sand, stones and driftwood. It’s a fun and imaginative activity suitable for all ages, although younger children should be accompanied by a parent or carer.

The event takes place on the beach behind Marine Hall and the YMCA Sports Centre. There’s no need to book — simply turn up and join the volunteers in creating something spectacular. Equipment will be provided, but participants are advised to wear suitable clothing and footwear, and to bring sun protection appropriate for the weather conditions.

Photography and drone filming will take place during the event for sharing on social media. If you prefer not to be included, please inform a volunteer on the day.

Parking is available nearby in designated bays along The Esplanade and in local car parks.

Refreshments are available from nearby cafés and kiosks, or you can bring a picnic to enjoy on the beach.

Public toilets are located to the side of Marine Hall, with a small charge for access.

Fleetwood Beach Wheelchairs also offer equipment to support beach access and are located approximately 100 metres from the event site. More information is available on their website
