Fleetwood

Fleetwood is a seaside town at the top of the Fylde Coast and is home to a breath-taking natural landscape and coastline. Famous for being the home of Fisherman’s Friend, it is the biggest town in Wyre and has a wide variety of attractions for all the family.

There are a number of award winning fish and chip shops in Fleetwood it’s certainly one of our specialities. A must for any visitor and you’re guaranteed the famous Lancashire welcome too!

Fleetwood Town Football Club play their games at Highbury stadium in the heart of Fleetwood and have done since 1939. The ground was renovated in in 2007 making it a brilliant ground to go and spend some time on a Saturday afternoon to enjoy a good standard of football, food and drinks all for a great price.

Since 1932, Fleetwood has also been home to a fantastic 18-hole links golf course that is open for players of all ages and skill level.

Farmer Parrs Animal World and Fylde Coast Agricultural Museum is a great day out for the whole family. There’s an animal farm, extensive heritage museum depicting life on the Fylde Coast in a bygone era, pony and tractor rides, pottery shop, play area and picnic area and café along with many family events that take place throughout the year. 

If you want to explore further, hop on the tram to neighbouring Cleveleys and further down the coast, or hop on to Fleetwood ferry and cross over to Knott End.

Fleetwood Museum

With a rich heritage, Fleetwood Museum is a historic Grade II listed building designed by Decimus Burton in 1938 which re-tells the story of Fleetwood, its cargo trade, ferry passenger services, salt mining industry, its development as a holiday destination and its once thriving fishing industry. They also run a number of events and family friendly activities throughout the year.

Traditional markets are a common in towns throughout Wyre and Fleetwood is no exception. Established in 1840, the historic award winning Fleetwood Market has over 250 indoor and outdoor stalls and is a great day out for everyone to enjoy. From gourmet street food to finely crafted jewellery, designer clothing, bargain household goods and handmade gifts you’ll find it all at Fleetwood Market.

The beautiful Mount Pavilion and gardens was designed in the 1800s. In recent years it has undergone a restoration thanks to a generous £1m personal donation from Mrs Doreen Lofthouse and a further £2.4m project with grant funding from the National Lottery Heritage Fund. There’s often activities for families to enjoy so be sure to check out what’s on during your stay.

Beaches in Fleetwood

Fleetwood is a town which takes pride in its outstanding beaches and coastline. Discover the traditional charm of one of Wyre’s designated bathing waters, Marine Beach. With brightly painted beach huts and a lovely stretch of sand to walk along or rest and relax, Marine Beach is a perfect spot to build sandcastles, fly a kite, or take a walk along the promenade to enjoy the view.

Fleetwood is also home to Memorial Park a much-loved seven hectare Grade II listed park in the heart of the town. It’s home to tennis courts and bowling greens, children’s play areas and beautiful gardens. The park was created in commemoration of the First World War and is a rare example of First World War landscape architecture, being one of only four listed war memorial parks and gardens in the UK.

Did you know you can go crabbing at Fleetwood Boating Lake? On a good summers day children can be seen all around the lake with pieces of bacon, a line and rod and a bucket. Great family fun, but don’t forget to be kind to the crabs and put them back into the water afterwards!

If you’re looking for entertainment, Marine Hall with its famous glass domed ballroom has been a landmark in Fleetwood since the 1930s hosting a variety of superb shows and events, be sure to keep an eye out for the amazing acts on here.

If it's family fun you're after then take the kids to Marine Splash where they can splash through fountains, water jets and water tunnels, with a paddling area also included. Be sure to visit the Splash café serving hot and cold food and drinks, ice cream and shakes. Open during the summer months.
