The weather is set to be fantastic this May Bank Holiday weekend – the perfect way to kick off half term!

There’s lots of fun to enjoy across Wyre, with plenty of events and great places to explore. We’ve rounded up some highlights and put together a few inspiring ideas to help you make the most of your half term in Wyre. 

Garstang Children’s Festival – Monday 25 May, 11am- 6.30pm 

Get ready for one of Garstang’s most cherished traditions as the Garstang Children’s Festival returns, bringing a vibrant day of creativity, community spirit and family fun to the heart of the town. Expect a lively procession filled with imaginative costumes, music and handcrafted displays, alongside plenty of activities and entertainment to delight all ages, as local groups, schools and families come together to create a warm and unforgettable bank holiday celebration. 

Game On at Affinity

Level up this May half term at Affinity Lancashire in Fleetwood, where gaming worlds come to life with a week of free, family-friendly fun. From creative workshops and character meet-and-greets to interactive trails and hands-on gaming, there’s something to keep every young gamer entertained. 

Highlights include appearances from favourites like Mario & Luigi, Pikachu and Sonic, a fun Pokémon trail with prizes, Nintendo Switch gaming, and themed workshops like sweet pizza making and Minecraft crafts — making it the perfect destination for a fun-filled half term adventure.

Nature Print Arts Activity at WECP 

Let creativity run wild in this hands-on outdoor art adventure! Kids can explore nature, gather their own natural treasures, and transform them into beautiful, one-of-a-kind artworks to take home. Perfect for budding artists aged 5+ who love getting creative in the great outdoors. 

Parents and guardians are encouraged to join in the fun, making it a lovely shared experience for all. Booking is essential for this popular activity at Wyre Estuary Country Park, with two sessions available to choose from.

Parks and Picnic Sites 

Make the most of May half term by getting out and about for free at some of Wyre’s beautiful parks and picnic spots. Our parks are dotted across the district, each offering fantastic play areas and multi-use games areas, giving little ones plenty of space to run, play and explore. Pack a picnic and enjoy a relaxed day surrounded by nature at favourites like Brock Bottom Picnic Site or Wyre Estuary Country Park — perfect for fresh air, family time and simple outdoor fun. 

Beaches 

You could also head to one of Wyre’s beautiful beaches in Cleveleys or Fleetwood for a seaside picnic and plenty of classic family fun. Enjoy some tradional summer activities like sandcastle building and flying kites. Let the kids run free along the shore to burn off some energy, or maybe treat them to an ice cream. Take a relaxing walk or cycle along the promenade, enjoy a game of crazy golf and soak up the fresh sea air.
