Two upcoming Teenage Market events in Poulton-le-Fylde and Garstang will see young entrepreneurs and creative talents come together, adding a burst of innovation, energy and community pride to Wyre.

The first event will be held on Saturday 30 May at the Teanlowe Shopping Centre in Poulton, offering local young traders a free platform to showcase their handmade products, alongside complimentary interactive arts and crafts activities for all ages.

The second Teenage Market will take place on Saturday 6 June in Cherestanc Square, Garstang from 10am–3pm. In addition to the market stalls, the day will also feature free interactive art activities and live performances in the square, creating a lively and inclusive event for the whole community.

Teenage Market® is a national initiative led by Place for Youth, providing young people with a free platform to showcase their creativity and talents as traders and performers in public spaces. Through a programme of events and supporting activities, the Wyre initiative offers local young people the chance to develop business ideas, sell their own creations, perform to live audiences and build confidence by engaging directly with customers and the wider community.

Between late 2025 and early 2026, four Teenage Market events were held across the district—one in each of Wyre’s town centres. The events attracted strong public interest and created valuable economic opportunities for young people to turn their ideas and creative talents into real income. Across all four events, young traders generated £5,239 in sales, with a total of 1,336 products sold.

Councillor Peter Le-Marinel, Portfolio Holder for Planning Policy and Economic Development at Wyre Council, said:

“The Teenage Market initiative is a fantastic opportunity for young people in Wyre to showcase their creativity, develop business skills and gain real-world experience. It’s incredibly encouraging to see such strong engagement and results from the previous events, and we hope the next two markets will be just as popular, continuing to inspire and support our young entrepreneurs.”

Joe Barratt, Executive Director of Place for Youth CIC said:

"We’re absolutely delighted to be returning to Poulton and Garstang to deliver two further Teenage Market events, following the fantastic response we saw to the events earlier this year. The community in both towns really embraced the young traders who took part, helping them to generate sales, build confidence and gain invaluable real-world experience of running their own stalls. We’re incredibly grateful to Wyre Council for continuing to support this work, and to partners Booths Supermarket for helping to open up space with the Teanlowe Shopping Centre to give young people the opportunity to trade for free, test their ideas and showcase their creativity.”

Some young traders will be returning for these upcoming events, including a team from Blackpool Sixth Form, who sold out of their candles at the previous market in Poulton.
