Wyre's Coronation Celebration was a day to remember

rainbow stilt walkers

Yesterday saw hundreds of people turn up to join in Wyre's Coronation celebration in Garstang.

The event, organised by Wyre Council, saw an array of entertainment in Cherestanc Square. From stiltwalkers to larger-than life sheep, an Elton John impersonator and Skiband, there was plenty on to keep everyone entertained.

A mass walk took place in the afternoon, going through the town centre then alongside the canal, and everyone who finished the walk was treated to a commemorative medal.

Children smiled throughout the day as they got to decorate their own crowns and have their pictures taken wearing the made crowns on a throne. Followed by a fantastic free outdoor performance of Theo and the Lost Crown at the family picnic area.

The event took place to celebrate the coronation of King Charles III, and it was a fantastic day out for everyone who attended.

There's lots of great events taking place throughout the year in Wyre. Take a look at the events section on this site and follow us on Facebook and Instagram to keep up to date with what's happening in and around Wyre to ensure you don't miss out!
