Have fun in Wyre this May half term

The sun is finally shining, making this May half term the perfect opportunity to enjoy some outdoor fun in Wyre! Here are some ideas of things to do next week.
Free childrens craft sessions at Fleetwood Museum
Fleetwood Museum is hosting free craft sessions for children aged 4-11 years on Tuesday 28 and Thursday 30 May. Take them along to learn about the Aurora Borealis and make their own wall hanging. There are two sessions on each day – 11:30-12:30 and 1:30-2:30. Book a place in advance by calling the museum directly on 01253 876621.
NCI Fleetwood open day
Go to NCI Fleetwood's open day on Saturday 25 May to celebrate 11 years of this incredible volunteer service! Explore all three floors of Rossall Point Tower and have a peek into the NCI Watchroom, where you can find out more about the amazing work the volunteer Watchkeepers do to keep the people on our coast safe. Plus, try your luck at tombola and enjoy some cake! Go along anytime between 10am and 4pm.
Creepy Crawly half term hunt
Head down to The Mount, Fleetwood on Wednesday 29 May for a creepy crawly half term hunt. See if you can discover what bugs are living on the Mount. This free event takes place at 11am-12pm. No booking required.
Affinity Lancashire's Jungle week
It's Jungle Week at Affinity Lancashire this May half-term! Join the fun with a variety of jungle-themed activities, including meeting exotic critters, participating in jungle-themed craft sessions, exploring an adventure trail, enjoying face painting, and tackling a Bounce and Assault Course. Lancashire Hawks and Owls at Barton Grange
On Saturday 1 and Sunday 2 June from 10:30am until 3:30pm, Baton Grange are hosting an event where you can get close to birds of prey.
Lancashire Hawks and Owls is a private organisation that rescues and looks after birds of prey which cannot be returned to the wild. At this event you’ll have a chance to meet both the people and the birds they rescue! All the birds of prey in the display are hand reared and totally approachable which means you can touch them and have your photo taken with them for a charge of £2 (cash only). Come along for a fascinating look at these wonderful creatures.
Bubble and Bounce at Guys Thatched Hamlet
Bubble and Bounce returns to Guys Thatched Hamlet this May half term and is bigger and better than ever before!
From 26 May until 2 June daily, kids can enjoy a field of fun with giant inflatables and rides and it’s just £10 per child.
Wyre’s beaches
Now is the perfect time to visit the beach. With over 16km of beautiful coastline to explore, Wyre’s beaches and promenades are the perfect place to enjoy the sun. Cleveleys Mythic Coast AR Trail
Home to a stunning series of sculptures known as the mythic coast, Cleveleys has its very own augmented reality app for everyone to experience the seafront in an entirely new way.
You can follow the Mythic Coast trail on the app which combines adapted and original illustration and animation, 3D digital art, poetry and music.
Available on the App Store and Google Play, download the free app and experience an immersive digital story that brings the pieces of artwork on the beach and promenade to life.
Parks
Wyre is home to lots of parks and picnic sites where you can unwind and enjoy nature. Children can have fun on the playgrounds and use the sporting areas for football, basketball, cricket, tennis and more.
Wyre is abundant in wildlife, particularly around the estuary and wetland areas. Nature enthusiasts should not miss Wyre Estuary Country Park, an excellent spot for birdwatching and observing local wildlife.
