October half term fun in Wyre

A carved pumpkin

There’s lots going on in and around Wyre this autumn half term!

We start the school holidays with a brilliant theatre show The Twitchy Witch, a free family friendly Halloween themed show. Performances are taking place at Hambleton Village Hall on Saturday 22 October, and Forton Village Hall on Sunday 23 October. Tickets are going fast but you still have time to book. To find out how visit www.discoverwyre.co.uk

Also taking place the same weekend is Marsh Mill’s birthday bash. Marsh Mill is a beautifully restored Grade II* listed tower mill set in the attractive surroundings of Marsh Mill Village and shopping centre in Thornton. The village shopping centre offers a diverse range of speciality shops and workshops and if you feel like a bite to eat or a beverage or two, there is a popular tea room and a public house. Take the opportunity to see the sails turn. Regular tours of the mill with take place during the weekend, with the last tour starting at 2.15pm both days.

Don’t miss our pumpkin carving and cooking roadshow. In the UK 18,000 tonnes of edible pumpkins are dumped each year! So banish the waste and join us for delicious free demonstrations on how you can transform your pumpkin guts into food for the whole family - and carve your own pumpkin too!
Roadshows are on from 11am - 2pm, no need to book:

  • Monday 24 October - Wyre Estuary Country Park
  • Tuesday 25 October - Catterall village hall
  • Thursday 27 October - The Shovels Inn, Hambleton
  • Friday 28 October - Memorial park pavilion, Fleetwood

Visit Fleetwood Market on Friday 28 October 10 am - 4pm and get ready for a Halloween takeover like no other. There will be special appearances from your favourite Transformers Bumblebee and Optimus Prime. These huge, interactive bots will be here all day for meet and greets and more! It's so much fun, it's scary! There's also a Halloween trail with a free reward for everyone that takes part, free Halloween craft sessions and free pumpkin carving drop in sessions too. All pumpkins and materials provided! Super spooky fun for all the family... don’t miss it!

We’ve recently launched an augmented reality app for people to experience Cleveley’s seafront in an entirely new way. Download the free app (available on Apple App Store and Google Play), take the kids to Cleveleys promenade and experience an immersive digital story that brings the pieces of artwork on the beach and promenade to life.

There's lots of other events happening during half term. Follow us on Facebook and Instagram to find out more.
