Poulton-le-Fylde, commonly referred to as Poulton, is a beautiful little town with a very welcoming and friendly atmosphere. Throughout the day you can visit the boutique shops and antique stores or have a wander to one of Poulton’s many cafes, tea rooms, pubs and restaurants for lunch or a coffee.
Or why not enjoy some time out at Jean Stansfield (Vicarage) park with plenty of spaces to sit and enjoy a picnic while the kids play on the park.
In the town centre every Monday it’s market day (except bank holidays) where stall holders come together to sell a wide range of goods and local produce as well as jewellery, pet products, clothing and much more.
There are plenty of historical landmarks in Poulton such as the market cross and stocks in the town square that are next to an old stone table, used by fishmongers in the early days of the market.
While you are here, be sure not to miss the stunning St Chads church in the heart of the town with its surrounding gardens where records date it as far back as 1094. If are lucky enough to visit in early spring, seeing the stunning carpet of crocus flowers is a must.
There are plenty of chances to get active if sports are your thing. You don’t need to be a member to take advantage of the gym, pool and classes at Poulton YMCA leisure centre, visit their website to see what’s on during your stay.
Poulton is also home to a stunning 9-hole golf course with a bar overlooking the course and outdoor sheltered seating, perfect to spend some time with friends.
At night, Poulton really comes to life. With a variety of establishments to choose from there really is something for everyone when spending time here, from real ale pubs to cocktail bars, karaoke to live bands and a range of restaurants serving cuisines from around the world.
Poulton has its own train station making it easily accessible from where ever you are, just hop off the train and you’re already in the centre of the town. There are good bus routes to Wyre’s other town centres and the coast.
