Dewlay cheese and farm shop

Located on the outskirts of the market town of Garstang, Dewlay Cheesemakers produce cheese five days a week from milk sourced directly from local farmers.

Dewlay was founded in 1957 by George Kenyon and over the next 50 years has earned a reputation for producing the very best range of Lancashire cheese available. Today, the company is managed by third generation owners Nick and Richard Kenyon. Dewlay continues to produce Lancashire cheese using fresh pasteurised milk sourced directly from dairy farms. They have created a great range of the finest Lancashire cheese including award winning Creamy, Crumbly, Tasty Lancashire and Garstang Blue.

Cheesemaking has traditionally relied on conventional sources of energy in terms of how dairies and packing facilities have been powered but conscious of the need to become more environmentally aware and rely less on traditional power sources while embracing new ones, Dewlay commissioned the construction of a 2MW wind turbine on site in late 2010. Such was the success of the project that Dewlay was the first dairy in the UK to be able to say that it was powered by renewable wind energy on this scale and you can see the majestic wind turbine on site.

They offer guided tours of the dairy and gallery. Pre-booked and organised groups are greeted with refreshments, before a history of Dewlay and a guided tour along the viewing gallery before a cheese tasting.
